Who Among Us? What the Kavanaugh Hearings Can Teach Us About Forgiveness

Teachings on forgiveness have played a strong role in how Christian communities react to sexual harassment and assault allegations. But without a proper, biblical understanding of justice, forgiveness can easily, and wrongly, become about protecting the accused without seeking restoration for victims. The Bible makes clear that God hates oppression and violence against the vulnerable.

Psst, Trump. Acting on climate change is a great deal for the U.S.

However, Trump’s claim that investing in efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions will cripple the American economy doesn’t really hold up. In fact, the United States is among the top nations that have the most to lose financially when it comes to not acting on climate change, according to a study published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

The cost of our climate inaction? $250 billion per year, according to calculations by researchers at the University of California in San Diego.

Do we have evidence for an exomoon? Ask again in a year.

Out of 284 planets they looked at, only one called Kepler-1625b seemed to show transit-timing variations that looked consistent with the presence of an exomoon. Kepler-1625b is a Jupiter-sized planet that orbits far enough away from its star—about the same distance Earth is from ours—that a moon could be stable. And, with a year between orbits, the researchers had enough time to arrange for the Hubble Space Telescope to image the planet's next pass in front of its star.

Chevy Chase can’t change

The primary sources of Chase’s battered image are the two main documents of SNL 101: 1986’s “Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live” and 2002’s “Live From New York: The Complete, Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live.” In both books, Chase is the supremely talented star who couldn’t handle the rush of money and fame, ditches SNL after a single season to cash checks, snort coke, and returns every few years to torment the cast. A “monster,” former cast member Terry Sweeney says of Chase’s 1985 guest spot. “The worst host,” adds Will Ferrell of Chase’s eighth and final one, in 1997.
